Always in search of comfortable liquid lipsticks, I decided to try the Too Faced Melted Matte Liquid lipsticks. These lipsticks claim to be long-wearing innovative ultra-matte lipsticks with the staying power of a stain and the intense color of a liquid lipstick and over time I have bought four shades.

The lipsticks are infused with Volulip™ for a no-sting plumping and smoothing effect. In addition, there is avocado oil, Vitamin E, and Hyaluronic Filling Spheres to moisturize and smooth lips.  I was quite intrigued by the claims made on these lipsticks and since they are marketed as long wearing I wanted to see how comfortable they were.

I love the packaging of these lipsticks, very unique and fun. Along with the actual lipstick tube, even the outer box is really attractive. Each lipstick tube is a clear acrylic tube, so it’s easy to distinguish the lipstick shades. The angled applicator is also really good, and it gives a precise application. I just don’t like the scent these lipsticks have. They all have kind of artificial cosmetic scent but it’s not overpowering. In fact, if you don’t go and sniff you can hardly tell the smell.

I bought these lipsticks from Sephora here and each lipstick is priced at S$ 33, for 7 ml / 0.23 Fl. Oz. of product. So, these are in the range of standard high-end liquid lipstick prices.

My experience with these liquid lipsticks have been pretty good. The formula is not my favourite but I don’t dislike it either. These lipsticks are extremely nicely pigmented and go really smoothly on the lips. I have not experienced any flaking or cracking with these lipsticks either. Although, the lighter shade might emphasize the finer lip lines a bit. The texture of the lipstick is kind of mousse-y and they apply very evenly on the lips. Being matte liquid lipsticks, they dry down completely matte on the lips after some time. After drying down matte, they do not transfer much at all if you don’t eat something oily. Surprisingly, these are pretty comfortable on the lips too. They may feel a bit drying after a long time of wear but initially for the first 4 hours or so they feel quite comfortable. They are quite long wearing and can last on the lips for 6-7 hours with some coffee and snack in between.

Now, why these are not my favourite and don’t get me excited? Because, of their shade range. I have four shades with me and most of the other remaining shades don’t really interest me at all. They are not very unique or some are just too unique for me. There aren’t many options in the nude shades for my skin tone. Even for red and pinks, there aren’t enough interesting options for me. If they expand the shade range, I might get interested in picking up a shade but for now I am not looking to buy any more of these liquid lipsticks.

I have four shades – Sell Out, It’s Happening, Bend & Snap and Unicorn. If I have to recommend one shade, then I will highly recommend “Bend & Snap” which is a beautiful deep berry shade which will flatter so many skin tones.

Here are the lip swatches for all the shades.

Overall, I like these lipsticks quite a lot and I think they are worth a try if you like matte liquid lipsticks. But for me, I am at a phase where I am not very gung ho about matte liquid lipsticks anymore and prefer more comfortable formulas so I may not be purchasing any more of these. I might think of buying one only if they expand the shade range and I see some amazing shades.

That’s all for this post. Hope it was helpful.

Cheers!
