Hi Beauties, This is my first blog post and I am so excited! I have so much to share and can’t wait to start. So, today I want to write about the first eye shadow palette which I ever owned and loved. This kind of got me into this whole makeup world about which I was always skeptical, clueless and considered it totally unnecessary (because I was so clueless!). I am quite new to makeup, started maybe 3 years back. Before that, the only makeup I possessed was an eye liner, mascara and few lipsticks out of which I wore only one. Makeup didn’t seem really necessary to me (that’s what I thought). The truth was I never really took out the time to understand the theory of makeup. I was always busy with work or some other thing in life and I would always make myself believe that “I don’t need makeup” or “I don’t like makeup” or “I don’t have time to do makeup” (The last excuse was kind of true). But, the real truth is that I was so intimidated with so many products that I never really dared to venture into the then unknown world of makeup. It’s true, you do need some sort of homework before you can actually do some decent makeup. So, most of my young adult life I went without makeup, this would be around 2005 to 2012. I am not sure how I feel about it though. I am kind of ok about it because I know that my husband knows and loves the real me without the makeup because that was the time when I met him. But, sometimes when I look at older photos now, the only thing I say is “I wish I had some lipstick on” or “Wish I did some makeup to look decent”. My mom would always say “Can you at least put on some natural lipstick”, when I started working (LOL). The only serious makeup I did was on my wedding day that too I had someone hired to do it for me. Anyways, after 10 years of corporate life and 2 kids, I finally had some time to understand makeup and truly I would encourage every girl to take some effort and understand it. You don’t have to wear makeup everyday or do heavy makeup and change your face completely but a little bit of makeup will only make you more beautiful and confident. There isn’t any harm in wanting to look your best and a little bit of makeup can help you achieve it. This just means that you love yourself and you want to put your best feet forward. Ok, enough rambling, let’s start reviewing the palette. Shall We? So, the palette which changed my life is (drumrolls…) – The Sleek MakeUP I-Divine Eye Shadow Palette “Oh So Special”. Were you expecting a high end palette? Well, this is no less. I do have a few high end palettes now but I still do love this sweet little palette which made me fall with makeup. The “Oh So Special” is a perfect palette to start off with makeup if you are new. It has very nice neutral brown shades and some deeper very pigmented shimmer shades which perfectly complement the brown-ier shades. This palette has 12 shades in total – 7 mattes and 5 shimmers. All the shades are really pigmented and very easy to work with. There’s is probably only just 1 shimmer shade named “Gift Basket” which is not as pigmented as the other shades but it is buildable.
The top row shades (Left to Right) – Bow, Organza, Ribbon, Gift Basket, Glitz, Celebrate The bottom row shades (Left to Right) – Pamper, Gateau, The Mail, Boxed, Wrapped Up, Noir
The only shade which I probably miss is a nice shimmery eyebrow highlight shade.
Packaging wise, the palette is very compact and sturdy. It comes with a nice sized mirror so it’s easy to do the eye makeup. It also comes with dual ended sponge tip brush which can be used for smudging the shadows at the most. I hardly use the brush which comes with the palette. Price wise, it is around 22 SGD in Singapore and if you are buying in Europe then around 10 EUR, which I find is very affordable. Considering, the quality of shadows you get and the price I would highly recommend this palette if you are a beginner or otherwise (one can never have too many eye shadow palettes right?) Hope this post was helpful. If any questions, then do comment down below. Thanks a lot for stopping by. Cheers! Stay Beautiful 🙂
